We maintain publicly accessible profiles on social networks. The specific social networks we use
are listed below.
As a rule, social networks, like Facebook, Google+, etc. can comprehensively analyze your
user behavior, when you visit their website or a website with social media content (e.g.
Like buttons or advertising banners). Visiting our social media presences
triggers numerous processing operations that are relevant for data protection. Specifically:
When you are logged into your social media account and visit our social media presences,
the operator of the social media portal can allocate this visit to your user account. However, under
certain circumstances your personal data can also be collected, even if you are not logged in
or even if you do not have an account with the respective social media portal. In this case, this data collection
occurs through cookies, for example, that are stored on your end device or through
collection of your IP address.
With the aid of data collected in this manner, the operators of the social media portals can create user profiles,
in which your preferences and interests are stored. In this manner interest-based advertising
can be shown to you inside and outside of the respective social media presence. If you have an account
with the respective social media presence, the interest-based advertising can be displayed on all
devices, on which you are logged in or were logged in.
Moreover, please note that we cannot track processing operations on the social media
portals. Consequently, depending on the provider, it is possible that additional processing
operations can be executed by the operators of the social media portals. Details in this regard are
provided in the terms of use and data protection regulations of the respective social media portals.
Legal basis
Our social media appearances are designed to ensure an Internet presence that is as extensive as possible. This
is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The analysis processes initiated
by the social networks may be based on different legal grounds, which must be specified by the
operators of the social networks (e.g. consent within the meaning of Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Responsible party (controller) and assertion of rights
If you visit one of our social media presences (Facebook, for example), then we, together with the
operator of the social media platform, are responsible for the data processing operations
triggered by your visit. Categorically you can assert your rights (information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing,
data portability, and right to file a complaint) against us and also against the
operator of the respective social media portal (e.g. against Facebook).
Please note, that in spite of the joint responsibility with the social media operators
we do not have absolute influence on the data processing operations of the social media
portals. Our possibilities largely depend on the corporate policy of the respective
provider.
Duration of storage
The data that we collect directly via the social media presences will be deleted from our
systems, as soon as the purpose for its storage no longer exists, or if you request that we delete it,
revoke your consent to storage, or the purpose for which the data is stored no longer applies. Stored cookies
remain on your end device until you delete them. Mandatory statutory regulations
– in particular retention periods – remain hereby unaffected.
We have no influence on the storage duration of your data that is stored by the operators of the
social networks for their own purposes. Please contact the operators of the social networks directly for
operators information in this regard (e.g. in their privacy policy, see below).
